Malayalam
Song Information

More Information
You may be surprised to know that this song was written and composed in the early 1970s by a group called Gospel Melody Singers, formed by members of the CSI Ex-Methodist Church, Saidapet, Madras (now Chennai).
The group came into existence following a minor disagreement within the church choir, which led the church organist, Mr. Sven Peter, to resign and form a new musical group. Gospel Melody Singers was formally inaugurated by none other than Brother D. G. S. Dhinakaran.
“Maangal Neerodai Vaanchithu” was the group's very first song. The lyrics were written by Mr. Alexander Moses, and the tune was composed by Mr. Sven Peter, who continues to live in Madras.
The group also included Mr. Sam Joseph, who later became a renowned music director and served as its lead violinist.
This song is a beautiful reminder of the rich musical heritage of the Christian community in Madras during the early 1970s and the contribution of the talented individuals who brought it to life.
